Dr. Carolle Chapman
(Caitania Priya devi dasi)
ND, MD (Cuba) – Holistic Family Medicine, Energetic Medicine, Holistic Mental Health & Addictions Medicine

Caitanya Priya Devi Dasi was born and raised in Jamaica by her grandparents who lived a simple life. Her grandmother, an entrepreneur and local herbalist, taught her to appreciate and use the gifts of plants to cure ailments and maintain health.

At 19 she moved to the United States to live and study. After graduating from the University of the District of Columbia, in Biology and Biochemistry, in 1979, she received a scholarship to medical school in Cuba where she studied Holistic Family Medicine and General Surgery; she then served two years in the Jamaica public health service.

On her return to the US, dissatisfied with the medical industry, she became a professor of Biomedical Sciences at the City University of New York. Nine years of teaching experience there revealed her true gift: a natural teacher in the care of the body, mind and spirit. In 2002, she returned to medical school to study Energetic Medicine and graduated from Bastyr University of Naturopathic Medicine and Chinese Medicine in 2006 with the degree of Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine.

From the very beginning, as a child, Caitanya Priya was searching for Truth.
In 1995, while studying for her medical license exams at the Brooklyn Public Library, she met Mother Paravati, a devotee of Srila Prabhupada. During their conversation, Caitanya Priya was given a few titles of Srila Prabupada’s books and the address of the Brooklyn Temple with encouragement to visit and learn more. What ensued was a major turn in her spiritual life.
After visiting the Brooklyn Temple she became absorbed in learning the culture of Bhakti (devotional life). She never looked back; she had found her spiritual home.

In 1996 Caitanya Priya met Bhakti Tirtha Swami, and was initiated in February of 1999, at Gita Nagari Farm, Pennsylvania. This was followed by Brahman initiation in 2004. Bhakti Tirtha Swami engaged her in the care of devotees’ body, mind, emotions and soul. She served at the Gita Nagari farm for many years assisting devotees with health care. Caitanya Priya is also a member of another organization that cares for terminally ill and dying devotees.

Currently, Caitanya Priya lives in Portland, Oregon, practicing Holistic Mental Health. Her specialty: Anxiety and Depression and Holistic Addictions Medicine. The approach is based in: first find then treat the cause of illness. All natural modalities are used, such as Homeopathy, Ayurvedic Medicine, Botanical Medicine, Biotherapeutic Drainage, Qigong, Hydrotherapy etc. The objective is cure, when possible.

Uttamasloka dasa
(Ron Marinelli)

At the age of 20, in 1970, Uttamasloka borrowed a copy of Srila Prabhupada’s Bhagavad-gita from a friend, and after reading it he became a devotee of Krsna. Soon after he joined the ISKCON temple in Toronto, Canada, and helped them establish the first temple in his home city of Hamilton.

Between the years 1973 – 1977 he became temple president of Montreal ISKCON, then Toronto ISKCON and finally, Chicago ISKCON. Each temple had many problems with debt and devotee moral and he successfully restored each temple to full working status. Chicago was world famous for book distribution, kirtans and prasadam.

After Srila Prabhupada left us in 1977, Uttamasloka returned to working in civilian life but continued his progressive march on the path of bhakti, helping many other devotees along the way. Many devotees needed assistance then because they were disenfranchised due to so many problems in ISKCON and they had difficulty reorienting to being outside of temple life.

During that time he was engaged as a successful software developer and consultant, writing custom business software for many companies. He was a key player in that scene in Los Angeles, CA for over 20 years.

He was also a very successful musician in the 1960s and was well known for his Bengali style kirtans in ISKCON in the 1970s. While working as a software developer, he also set up a home studio and produced many albums over the years with various devotees, all of which were very well received. He is still producing music in retirement and has also written two books.

He is currently living in Costa Rica, Central America, with his wife, Gandharvika dasi and daughter, Christian.
